Abstract:

In the last twenty years military explosives and energetic materials in general have changed significantly. This has been due to several factors which include new operational requirements such as Insensitive Munitions (IM), but is also due to the availability of new materials and to new assessment and modelling techniques. These permit more effective use of materials and a more detailed understanding of the processes involved in applying the technology. This article will outline some of the effects in addition to taking a glance at what the future might hold.

Keywords:

Energetic materials, Insensitive munitions, Explosives.
